How am I Living? – Call 1- 800-DOU-CHIM

Philippians 2:14-15
“Do all things without grumbling and disputing, that you may prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world.”
A Divine Revelation
On the back of semi-trucks, I often see the message, “How am I driving?” with a 1.800 number to call. The accountability this requires for these truck drivers is that they drive in a credible way to preserve the reputation of the company they’re driving for. The above Scripture requires that same accountability of us because of the God we represent. However, if we had a sticker tattooed on our forehead that read, “How am I living? Call 1-800-DOU-CHIM?” I wonder what the world would say about our conduct. What would they believe about the God we represent?
Sadly, the unsaved world around us wants nothing to do with our God because of how they see us live. The divorce rate among Christians is just as high as that of the world. Our children still have all the same problems their children have. Our homes, our attitudes, and our behavior don’t seem to stand out as any kind of a positive example anymore. So, we leave them shaking their heads and asking, “What can Christ do for me?”
A Divine Challenge
In the above Scripture, Paul is encouraging the body of Christ in Phillipi; to understand how important their witness was to the world around them. He called them to be “blameless and innocent children of God above reproach.” But are we heeding that call? In Matt 5:13, the great Sermon on the Mount, Jesus gave a stark warning regarding this when He said, “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how will it be made salty again? It is good for nothing anymore, except to be thrown out and trampled under the feet of men.” Ouch!
Call to Action
Sadly beloved, today our witness is diminishing when the world around us needs it most. The fabric of our nation is unraveling, and we the people are more divided than we’ve ever been. However, if Jesus could change water into wine, He can make us salty again so we can preserve our homes, our communities, and our nation. We need to “let our light shine before men in such a way that they see our good works and glorify our Father who is in heaven.” Dear Christian, it is time to wear your faith so that when people see how you are living, they WILL SEE HIM!
Father, You are the only hope this world has! Help us to embrace the great commission and let Your light burn bright within us in the midst of the darkness that surrounds us while there is still time. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen!
