What it Means to be a FROG

frog, frog prince, prince-2240764.jpgThe acronym FROG stands for someone who is Fully Reliant On God.  Recently, God reminded me of the importance of this at a women’s tea.  The subject for the tea was Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.” This is one of those life verses that God often uses to speak to my personal trust issues that I am continually wrestling with.  God has taught me that trials, tribulations, daily circumstances that seem beyond my ability to handle always have one purpose…to teach me dependency on God!  When I let go of my understanding of things and surrender to the God of the universe it builds my reliance upon Him. Then as I seek His face, His plan and His purpose in all things, my tadpole faith begins to take the form of a F.R.O.G.

Trusting in the Lord is not blind faith…it is faith in action.  Faith that is “the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Heb 11:1 Trusting the Lord in the unseen is what trust really is. If we could see or understand what was happening around us or why it was happening to us, we wouldn’t need to trust the Lord.  Remember Job, when faced with the loss of his children, boils, and abandonment of friends, received a harsh rebuke from the Lord for asking why. As Job quickly learned, the Lord doesn’t answer to us.  He’s God and His ways are PERFECT.  He deserves our trust because He will never forsake us. He will never allow anything to happen to us that He cannot redeem for our good and for His glory.

Do you have trouble trusting the Lord?  Is being a F.R.O.G. something you want, or does it terrify you?  What keeps you from trusting the Lord? I promise you this, if you will trust in the Lord until He proves Himself to be untrustworthy, you will NEVER have a problem trusting Him.

Psalms 40:4 says, “Blessed is that man who makes the Lord his trust, and does not respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.”

Lord, help us to realize that You alone are trustworthy! The unseen is where the miraculous happens.  When we trust in You we can have the assurance of things hoped for.  Unlike the world, Your love does not disappoint.  Help us walk by faith and not by sight, trusting in You every step of the way
